INTERDOOF DESIGN

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

An interesting video with DJ Richie Hawtin discussing the intricacies of how he configures and utilises the dynamic functional ability of his preferred digital DJing setup. Not sure if Allen & Heath are sponsoring this video but it presents some fantastic insights into how this DJ considers his compositions and uses the clever user interface design of Apple’s own Traktor DJ Studio. Some DJ purists may choose to avoid this video as automatic beat matching is heavily utilised in this demonstration. Richie puts forward a very strong argument as to why a self confessed vinyl junkie is now an auto beat sync loyalist.

poos

Yeah it’s immature, yeah most ‘cool’ people will scoff at you for laughing at one, but by jimminy doesn’t a good poo joke tickle ya fancy?!… if ‘no’ then don’t bother clicking this link which shows some very inventive ways of considering a poo.

BIG BLUE, I NEVER KNEW

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

The only problem with the TED talks is that there is so many inspirational ideas and discussions caught on film that it is difficult to decide what or who to watch first. I’ll help you out. Watch this interesting presentation about how much or more rightly, how little we know about the World’s oceans.

Fact: The current annual NASA Space Program budget could fund the current budget for the American NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) Ocean Exploration program for 1600 years. Why are we looking up and not down?

FWA for Buda

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

We are doing the Sauerkraut Bossa here at Resn after news we just landed another FWA Site of the day award. The site we have lovingly nurtured for Wellington Musician Luke Buda from the Phoenix Foundation has all grown up and seen the light of day.  Reports are it is quietly freaking a bunch of people out all over the world.   Perfect!

Rise of the palm projector

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Handy, maybe.  Cool, most likely.  Useless, most of the time.  Toshiba and 3M have just launched their versions of mini projectors.  The aim is to eventually fit them into cellphones.  I have a feeling we are going to require nuclear reactor battery packs to run these future phones.  If you could project multiplayer phone games, such as hand to hand combat titles I am sure that could gather some fans.  I’m interested.
Beam me up or out.

infinite image wall

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

Use this sexy little app to browse around Google Image’s basement or get ya voyeur jumpsuit on for some FaceBook album action. However you use it doesn’t really matter, what matters is that interface designs that “wet floor” or “mirror effect” images to make you believe Steve Jobs gave birth to it will never go away, so get used to it!!!

London From Above

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

A vibrant series of photos shot from the heavens by photographer Jason Hawkes. These photos were shot by a harnessed Jason leaning out of the helicopter with his camera fixed on gyro stabilised mounts. We can definitely say he went the extra mile to get these shots… a mile straight up!
