We're not sure what to show you here as Resn has won an FWA (26th April) for its own site www.resn.co.nz. You may like to send us hate emails saying "Come on dicks. Why not make your site in Word Press? You're dicks!" and then we could say "Resn will stab you... shut up dick." Posted in Flash, Industry, website | 1 Comment »

Resn's own Resn 08 website took out the Best Enterprise category of the AIMIA Awards (Australian Interactive Media Industry Association) at the awards ceremony on Friday night in Sydney. This AIMIA award is definitely the heaviest award we have ever received. Our Creative Director, Steve Le Marquand is currently undergoing physiotherapy after having to hold the award all night long at the afterparty.
The award is for "Interactive Media and digital content which demonstrates best practice, innovation and excellence in corporate communications, product and service communications, investor relations..." Posted in Flash, Industry, website | No Comments »

Interactive user experiences are all about capturing a fantasy or reality in the most convincing way. The challenge is often working out how to get the visitor so deep into the site that they lose any inhibitions. This site, created for jeans company JAG, throws you into the magazine and photography world and gives you the chance to create your own magazine with pictures that you take with a virtual camera. “The brief was to offer the user a fun and realistic fashion photo shoot experience, putting them in the photographer’s shoes and letting them choose the shots and layout,” explains Resn’s producer, Rik Campbell.
The site’s digital SLR, which you use to capture the stills, is central to the whole experience and was a real technical feat for Resn; the immediate responsiveness of the click and capture is a crucial aspect of the photography experience. “An initial working prototype enabled us to refine the speed of the real-time capture of screen shots from the Flash video, enabling us to create the feeling that the user is indeed taking the photo,” says Campbell. “The next challenge was to sync these lower res screen shots Flash-side with the server-side high res frames that would be used in the magazine and for the desktop download.”
It was necessary to create two versions of the model videos to achieve this, as well as using selective loading to pull down only those images the user needed. “Perhaps the greatest challenge was using Papervision 3D to deliver the customised magazine in a 3D viewer, which required a mix of ActionScript 2 and 3,” reveals Campbell.

Awesome, Resn's new website Jag Black Book has hit the top of the Design Charts. Design Charts scans the traffic from its network of awards sites and uses this data to publish a top 40 of who's getting the hits every Monday. Also note Resn's Pacific Heights site at 13 too. Tags: Chart

Very, very sexy time on the web. Blending old with new in a sophisticated delivery that gets the creative mouth salivating. Dogs wagging tails, subtle water colour textures, smoke billowing... its all there in this Japanese online eutopia. You don't need to be able to read Japanese to enjoy the best of this artfully applied 3D environment.
